Ramadan Muraqbah Meditation

In Arabic “muraqbah” means a quality or state of perception or awareness of things. Specifically, it is a mental state that is achieved by focusing consciousness at a particular moment, accompanied by full recognition of the physical sensations and acceptance of thoughts and feelings.

We invite you to join this guided practice of muraqbah and contemplations on  prayer Salah and exploring the essence of elevating the level of worship we need to transcend the superficiality of worship, lifting it from its mere form of five daily movements to its deeper meaning.

Ramadan Halaqa: Staying True to God

Muslim Space invites you to participate in a new, 4-part Ramadan halaqa titled Staying True to God: Compassionate Change in Islam. In determining how to conduct oneself, Muslims often focus on the specific rules of the shari’a. However, just as important in the Qur’an are the general rules of virtuous conduct, which we may call “ethics.”

We are fortunate to have Dr. Shehnaz Haqqani present the first two weeks and Dr. Hina Azam present the third and fourth weeks. The event will be interactive and following the presentation there will be a Q&A session.

Continuing Saturday, March 30th at 1:00pm CST

Ramadan & Muslim Space

Muslim Space follows the Fiqh Council of North America in determining dates of the Islamic calendar. They have issued the following information with regards to Ramadan 1445/2024.

Ramadan 1445 AH: The Astronomical New Moon is on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 09:00 Universal Time. On that day, the elongation is more than 8 degrees and moon is more than 5 degrees above the sun everywhere in North America. Therefore, first day of Ramadan 1445 is on Monday, March 11, 2024, insha'Allah. Tarawih prayer will start on Sunday night.

Eidul-Fitr 1444 AH: The Astronomical New Moon is on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 18:21 Universal Time. On April 8, there is no place on earth where at sunset the elongation is 8 degrees and moon is 5 degrees above the sun. Hence first day of Shawwal is on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, insha'Allah.
