It holds insights relevant to the discourse and formation of the Muslim identity, not in tension with modernity and liberalism, but in tension with Muslim groups. Positions arrived at on this issue have implications not only to intensified intra-Muslim othering, but also to acceptability of shedding Muslim blood by Muslims.
